Hot Metal Sample Molds
Produce samples for Arc-Spark Spectrometers
2392 Vertical Pour Mold
Our 2393 vertical pour molds are constructed from two massive cast iron blocks that are machined to produce a sample size of 7/32″ thick x 2-1/2″ in diameter. These are primary used to cast aluminum samples, but can also be used for copper, zinc and magnesium samples.
Each mold is equipped with a clasp that keeps the mold closed during pouring. The design itself is well proven and produces suitable samples for arc-spark spectrometer analysis.
2393A Horizontal Pour Mold
Our 2393A horizontal pour molds are constructed from two massive cast iron blocks that are machined to produce a sample size of 3/8″ thick x 1-3/4″ in diameter. These are primary used to cast aluminum samples, but can also be used for copper, zinc and magnesium samples.
Each mold is equipped with a clasp that keeps the mold closed during pouring. The design itself is well proven and produces suitable samples for arc-spark spectrometer analysis.
2394 Series Copper Molds
All 2394 series molds are produced from copper blocks for the ultimate in cooling. The blocks themselves are jacketed to allow water to flow through the block producing a cast iron sample that is homogenous and white in form. Several sizes are available depending on your need.
- 2394 produces a sample size of 1/4″ thick x 1-1/4″ diameter
- 2394A produces a sample size of 3/8″ thick x 1-1/2″ diameter
- 2394B produces a sample size of 1/4″ thick x 1-1/2″ diameter
- 2394C produces a sample size of 1/8″ thick x 1-1/2″ diameter
Magnetic Sample Holder
Thin samples that are produced with our 2394 water cooled molds are very difficult to hold when grinding on a belt or disc sander. Our magnetic sample holder (part number 297353-1) utilizes a massive neodymium magnet with adjustable collar that holds the sample when grinding. This tool is a must have if you are casting thin samples for cast iron.
